One of the things that really makes a difference in weight is changing out that steel cooking pot for titanium. Yes, it's expensive, but it was worth it for me.  I used an Evernew Expedition 1.3L pot. They still make this and it's available on Amazon, though mine did not have the red handles that the current pot has. 

I boiled it dry once in testing and discolored the bottom, and I dented it somehow along the trail, but it still works brilliantly. 

I carried my stove, lighter, lexan spoon, tooth brush and tooth powder inside the stove, all contained in its own nylon bag. This went into my pot cozy, which I'll write about in another blog post soon.  I had everything I needed to eat, brush my teeth, and then jump in bed, all in once place.
